Prunus japonica is a shrub species in the genus Prunus, that is widely cultivated for ornamental use. Its native range extends from Central China through to the Korean peninsula. The shrub reaches 1.5 m by 1.5 m. Its flowers are hermaphrodite and are pollinated by insects. The plant blossoms in May. Its fruit reaches about 14 mm. Each fruit has one seed. The plant usually grows from seed but can also be propagated through cutting for layering.*

Suggested use and dosage for adults: Shake well before use. 20-30 drops (1 ml., one full squeeze of dropper), up to 4 times a day or as directed by your practitioner. The best way to use liquid herbal tinctures is to put the suggested amount in a glass of water, tea, or juice and drink the entire contents. Tinctures can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some tinctures are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage.

CYANOGENIC - Important safety warning - please read before use
Bush cherry seed (Yu Li Ren, Prunus japonica) is CYANOGENIC. Use it only under the guidance of a qualified practitioner and never exceed the suggested serving.
- Amygdalin / cyanide: the seed naturally contains amygdalin, which the body can convert into hydrogen cyanide. At small, practitioner-guided amounts the cyanide released is low, but overdose can cause a bitter taste, excess salivation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, and difficulty breathing.
- Do not exceed / practitioner only: never exceed the suggested serving, use it only under a qualified practitioner, and keep to short-term use. If any of the symptoms above occur, stop at once and seek medical care.
- Pregnancy / children: do NOT use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and do not give it to infants or children, who are far more sensitive to cyanide.
- Not a cancer treatment: amygdalin (sometimes marketed as "laetrile" or "vitamin B17") is NOT a treatment for cancer or any disease - such use is unproven, illegal to promote, and has caused cyanide poisoning.
- Contains alcohol. If you take any medication or have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Keep out of reach of children.
