Lung Support Tincture - Elecampane, Horehound, Mullein Leaf and Ginger Herbal Blend
This is an alcohol-based liquid extract (tincture) of four herbs extracted together in equal parts. Lung Support is the name of the blend; it is a traditional herbal product, not a capsule.

- Horehound herb - Marrubium vulgare herb tincture (Lamiaceae)
- Mullein leaf - Verbascum thapsus leaf tincture (Scrophulariaceae)
- Ginger root - Zingiber officinale root tincture (Zingiberaceae)

What is in the blend
- Elecampane root - the aromatic root of a tall daisy-family plant with large yellow flowers, long grown in European herb gardens.
- Horehound herb - the bitter, woolly herb of a mint-family plant, best known from old-fashioned horehound candy and lozenges.
- Mullein leaf - the soft, felted leaf of the great mullein, a common roadside plant of Europe and North America; our extract is filtered, so the fine leaf hairs are not a concern.
- Ginger root - the rhizome of the familiar kitchen spice, warm and pungent.
Why a tincture
The four dried herbs are macerated together in organic alcohol with a little vegetable glycerin and water - the classic herbal method. A tincture keeps for years at room temperature in a cool, dark place, has a sharper herbal taste (bitter from the horehound and elecampane, warm from the ginger), and a few drops disappear in a glass of water or juice.
How to use
Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water or juice and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. If you prefer less alcohol taste, add the drops to a cup of hot water and let it stand for a few minutes. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tight.
Tincture or drops?
If you avoid alcohol or prefer a milder, naturally sweet taste, the same four-herb blend is available as Lung Support Alcohol-Free Drops - the glycerite version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.
Important safety information - please read before use
This blend contains four herbs. Please note the following before use.
- Pregnancy / nursing: do not use. Horehound is traditionally avoided during pregnancy, and safety data for elecampane and mullein in pregnancy are lacking.
- Blood clotting (ginger): ginger can reduce platelet clumping. Consult your practitioner if you take blood thinners such as warfarin, aspirin or heparin, and stop use at least two weeks before scheduled surgery.
- Blood sugar: horehound and ginger may lower blood sugar. Monitor closely if you take diabetes medication.
- Heart (horehound): large amounts of horehound may affect heart rhythm. Use caution if you have a heart condition or take blood-pressure medication.
- Gallstones (ginger): avoid if you have gallstones or a bile-duct obstruction.
- Allergies (elecampane): elecampane is a daisy-family (Asteraceae) plant and can cause skin reactions in sensitive people. Avoid if you are allergic to ragweed, daisies, marigolds or chrysanthemums.
- Digestive: larger amounts may cause stomach upset, heartburn, nausea or loose stools. Keep to the label serving and take breaks rather than using it continuously.
- Contains alcohol. If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not give it to children without medical advice. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.
