Hoodia (Hoodia Gordonii) is stem succulent, described as "cactiform" because of its remarkable similarity to the unrelated cactus family. Hoodia has a branching, shrub-like form, and can grow to the size of a tree — over 6 ft 7 in in height. The flowers are extremely variable in size — from less than 1 cm, to almost 20 cm in diameter. Flowers appear in large numbers, always near the tops of the stems. They are often a papery pink-tan color.*

What is the difference between the alcohol-free and tincture versions?

It is a succulent in the dogbane family (Apocynaceae); it simply has a spiny, cactus-like appearance because it evolved in a hot, dry desert. Second, authenticity: genuine Hoodia gordonii is a protected plant, listed under CITES (the international convention on trade in endangered species), and because it became popular, a large amount of the material sold as hoodia is fake, substituted, or adulterated. We use authentic, correctly identified, wild-harvested Hoodia gordonii from Southern Africa. How do I use Hoodia liquid extract?
