Blackberry (Rubus armeniacus) is a thorny shrub of the rose family (Rosaceae), the Himalayan or Armenian blackberry, part of the broad Rubus fruticosus bramble group. Most people know blackberry for its berries, but the part used here is the root. This tincture is prepared from the dried root using a traditional alcohol extraction.

Is this the berry, and how is it different from blackberry leaf or raspberry?
