What is Green Coffee (Coffea arabica) bean extract?
Green coffee is not a different plant from ordinary coffee - it is simply the raw, unroasted bean of Coffea arabica, the main coffee species in the family Rubiaceae. "Green" refers to the natural greenish color of the bean before roasting; roasting is what turns coffee brown and changes many of its compounds. Green beans naturally contain chlorogenic acids (which are reduced by roasting) and caffeine. Our product is made from the dried green bean and offered in two forms - a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite - each from ethically sourced raw material (origin: Ethiopia). This is a whole-bean liquid extract that carries the bean's natural spectrum of constituents, not an isolated or standardized single-compound product, and we label it clearly by botanical name and plant part.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Coffea arabica green bean; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both deliver the bean's constituents in a convenient liquid you take by the drop. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
Is this the same as chlorogenic acid or green coffee beans for roasting?
No to both. First, chlorogenic acid: green coffee naturally contains chlorogenic acids, and some products are standardized isolates of that single compound group. Our product is different - it is a whole-bean liquid extract that preserves the bean's own natural spectrum of constituents rather than being concentrated to a fixed chlorogenic acid percentage. If you are specifically looking for a standardized chlorogenic acid product, that is a different type of supplement. Second, format: "green coffee beans" are also sold raw for people to roast at home as a coffee hobby; our product is not those beans - it is a concentrated liquid extract you take by the drop, not beans for brewing or roasting. And green coffee is the unroasted bean, distinct from the roasted coffee you drink. We label our product clearly by botanical name (Coffea arabica), plant part (bean) and format (liquid extract) so there is no confusion.
