Heart Support Tincture

This is an alcohol-based liquid extract (tincture) of two ingredients extracted together in equal parts: the kitchen garlic bulb and the glossy reishi mushroom of East Asian forests. Both are also sold on their own. It is a traditional herbal product and not a replacement for any prescribed treatment - please read the safety information below before use.

  • Garlic, bulb - Allium sativum bulb (Amaryllidaceae)
  • Reishi, whole mushroom - Ganoderma lucidum fruiting body (Ganodermataceae; a fungus, not a plant)
  • Extract type: Alcohol tincture. Other ingredients: organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, crystal clear purified water
  • Origin: Cultivated garlic from the USA and cultivated reishi from Taiwan. Gluten free. Made in the USA.

What is in the blend

  • Garlic bulb - the dried bulb of Allium sativum, the same species as culinary garlic, cultivated for thousands of years from Central Asia to the Mediterranean; its pungent sulfur compounds are what you smell when a clove is crushed.
  • Reishi (Lingzhi) - the glossy, reddish-brown, fan-shaped mushroom that grows on hardwood stumps in East Asia; the whole fruiting body is used. It is a fungus, not a plant, and ours is cultivated.

Why a tincture

The two dried ingredients are macerated together in organic alcohol with a little vegetable glycerin and water - the classic herbal method. A tincture keeps for years at room temperature in a cool, dark place, has a pungent, bitter taste in which the garlic is clearly present, and a few drops disappear in a glass of water or juice. A serving of 20 to 30 drops is roughly 1 ml of liquid, so the amount of alcohol per serving is small.

How to use

Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water or juice and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. If you take any medication, take this blend at least two hours apart from it. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tight.

Tincture or drops?

If you avoid alcohol or prefer a milder taste, the same two-ingredient blend is available as Heart Support Alcohol-Free Drops - the glycerite version. The ingredients and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs. Our Strong Heart Tincture is a different blend of hawthorn leaf and flower with goldenseal root.

Important safety information - please read before use

Both ingredients in this blend interact with common medicines. Please read before use.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Heart Support Tincture?
Heart Support is a two-ingredient liquid blend: garlic bulb (Allium sativum) and reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum), extracted together in equal parts in organic alcohol with a little vegetable glycerin and water. Garlic is the familiar kitchen bulb, and reishi a glossy, fan-shaped mushroom of East Asian hardwood forests, cultivated for us in Taiwan; both are also sold on their own. It is a liquid herbal tincture, not a capsule. It is a botanical product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please read the safety note below - this blend is not a replacement for any prescribed treatment.
What is the difference between the tincture and the alcohol-free drops?
Both contain the same two ingredients in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. This tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water - the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature and a pungent, bitter taste in which the garlic is clearly present. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, milder and naturally sweet, for those who avoid alcohol. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.
How is Heart Support different from Strong Heart and Blood Pressure Formula? Is reishi a plant?
They are different blends. Heart Support, this product, is garlic and reishi only. Strong Heart is hawthorn leaf and flower with goldenseal root, and Blood Pressure Formula is garlic, hibiscus and reishi. Reishi is not a plant but a fungus - the whole fruiting body of Ganoderma lucidum, known as lingzhi in Chinese tradition; ours is cultivated rather than wild-gathered. Garlic is the dried bulb of the same species as culinary garlic. Both ingredients are also available as single extracts.
