About Bambusa vulgaris

Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris), the common bamboo, is a giant clumping grass of the grass family, Poaceae, probably native to southern China and Indochina and now the most widely planted bamboo in the tropics, from India and Africa to Hawaii and the Caribbean. Its culms rise 10 to 20 meters and 4 to 10 centimeters thick, bright green or, in the golden form, yellow with green stripes, with long drooping branches of narrow lance-shaped leaves. It flowers only once in several decades. The young shoots emerge as thick, pointed, sheath-wrapped cones that are cut at ground level and boiled as a vegetable across Asia. We extract the dried shoot.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
