Oriental Garlic (Allium tuberosum) is a clump-forming perennial of the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae, native to China and the eastern Himalaya and grown across East Asia as the vegetable known as garlic chives or Chinese chives. It has flat, grass-like leaves that smell of garlic and onion when crushed, and in late summer sends up stalks topped with rounded umbels of small white, star-shaped flowers. The capsules release angular black seeds. We extract the dried seed.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
