Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) is a short-lived perennial of the legume family, Fabaceae, native to Europe, western Asia and northwest Africa and now planted as a forage and green manure crop across North America. It grows 20 to 80 cm tall with hairy stems and leaves of three oval leaflets, each marked with a pale crescent. Dense, rounded heads of pink to purple pea-like flowers appear from late spring and are a favorite of bumblebees. The tiny seeds are heart-shaped and yellow to purple. We extract the dried flower, leaf and seed separately.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
