About Rumex crispus

Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus) is curly dock, a robust perennial of the knotweed family, Polygonaceae, native to Europe and western Asia and now one of the most widespread weeds of North American fields, roadsides and waste ground. It forms a rosette of long, narrow, lanceolate leaves with distinctly wavy, crisped margins and sends up a stout stem 50 to 150 cm tall carrying dense whorls of small greenish flowers that mature into rusty brown, three-winged fruit that persist through winter. The thick taproot is dark brown outside and bright yellow-orange when cut. We extract the dried root.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
