Kidney Formula Tincture

Both contain the same three herbs in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. This tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water - the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature and a tart, astringent taste from the cranberry and tea. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, milder and naturally sweet, for those who avoid alcohol. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.

They are different formulas. Kidney Formula is the simpler blend of three ingredients - cranberry berry, green tea leaf and milk thistle seed. Kidney Boost is a larger six-herb blend of chanca piedra, cranberry, dandelion root, horsetail, uva ursi and usnea; the only ingredient they share is cranberry. Compare the ingredient lists and choose the one that fits you. Because this blend contains green tea leaf, it carries a small amount of natural caffeine - roughly comparable to a sip of tea per serving - so people who avoid caffeine may prefer to take it earlier in the day. The milk thistle here is the seed, the part used in most milk thistle products; we also sell the leaf separately.

Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a glass of water and drink it with food, up to the frequency shown on the label - not on an empty stomach (see the safety note on green tea). Drink plenty of water through the day. Do not exceed the label serving. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tight, and keep out of reach of children.

Please read carefully. See a doctor: pain in the side or lower back, blood in the urine, swelling, fever or changes in urination need medical diagnosis - see a doctor promptly, and do not use this or any herbal product in place of medical care. Liver: concentrated green tea extracts have been linked to rare cases of liver injury, especially when taken on an empty stomach or while dieting - take this blend with food, stay within the label serving, and stop and see a doctor if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine or unusual fatigue. Kidney stones: if you have a history of kidney stones, consult your doctor before use - cranberry contains oxalates. Blood thinners: cranberry in large amounts and milk thistle may change how warfarin and some other medicines work - consult your doctor if you take warfarin, diazepam or medicines with a narrow dose range. Caffeine: green tea leaf contains caffeine - avoid if you are sensitive to it or have a heart rhythm condition, and do not take it in the evening. Blood sugar: milk thistle may lower blood sugar - monitor if you take diabetes medication. Allergies: milk thistle is a daisy-family (Asteraceae) plant - avoid if you are allergic to ragweed, daisies or chrysanthemums; avoid cranberry if you are allergic to aspirin or salicylates. Pregnancy and nursing: do not use. Iron: take iron supplements two hours apart, as tea and cranberry reduce iron absorption. Not for children. This tincture contains alcohol.
