FEATURES AND DESCRIPTION:
  •   GLUTEN FREE
  •   Expertly extracted
  •   Highest Strength Psyllium Husk liquid extract - contains ONLY natural ingredients
  •   High Quality Psyllium Husk liquid extract - we use classic conventional methods of extraction. We meticulously produce our extracts according to precise standards where each herb is extracted according to the distinct characteristic of each plant.
  •   Super concentrated Psyllium Husk tincture
  •   Cultivated raw material of Indian origin

Psyllium (Plantago psyllium) is a plant of the family Plantaginaceae. The part used here is the husk, the fine outer coat of the seed. Our species is Plantago psyllium, also called black or French psyllium (botanical synonym Plantago afra), cultivated in India. This tincture is prepared from the dried husk using a traditional alcohol extraction.

  •

WHOLE-HUSK LIQUID EXTRACT: Made from the dried husk of Plantago psyllium, carrying the husk's natural spectrum of constituents rather than an isolated or standardized compound.

  •

TRADITIONAL ALCOHOL EXTRACTION: A classic alcohol-based tincture, with vegetable glycerin and water, offering a long shelf life. An alcohol-free glycerite version is available separately.

  •

BLACK PSYLLIUM, NOT PLANTAGO OVATA: Ours is Plantago psyllium (black psyllium). The commercial psyllium husk sold as a powder is usually Plantago ovata, which we offer separately as a seed product.

  •

A LIQUID EXTRACT, NOT A FIBER POWDER: This is a liquid extract taken by the drop. It is not the bulk psyllium husk powder that is stirred into a large glass of water.

  •

ALSO IN OUR RANGE: We carry Plantago ovata seed and Plantago asiatica seed (Che Qian Zi) as separate products, each labeled by species and plant part.

  •

TAKE WITH PLENTY OF WATER: Psyllium must always be taken with a full glass of water. Please read the safety information below before use.

Plantago psyllium - Psyllium Husk

Psyllium (Plantago psyllium), black or French psyllium, is grown for its seed and the fine husk that coats it. Our raw material is cultivated in India and the husk is dried before extraction.

About our Psyllium Husk Extract:

We start with dried Plantago psyllium husk of Indian origin, extracted using the classic alcohol method for a highest-strength tincture with a long shelf life. It is a whole-husk extract - not an isolate - carrying the husk's natural profile. It is gluten-free.

Suggested use: Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in a full glass of water, at least 8 oz, and drink promptly, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Always take with plenty of liquid.*

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PRODUCT:

Main Ingredients: Psyllium (Plantago psyllium) Dried Husk. Origin: India.

Other ingredients: organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, crystal clear water.

Additional information about ingredients: Contains NO gluten or artificial color.

Suggested Use: Shake well before use. Take 20-30 drops in a full glass of water (at least 8 oz) and drink promptly, up to 4 times a day, or as directed by your practitioner. Always take with plenty of liquid. Do not use if seal is broken or missing. Store in a cool, dark place.

Safety information: Please read before use. Always take psyllium with a full glass of water, at least 8 oz per dose, and drink it promptly. Taken with too little liquid, psyllium can swell and cause choking or a blockage of the esophagus, which has in rare cases been fatal. Do not use this product if you have any narrowing or stricture of the esophagus or intestine, difficulty swallowing, or a history of bowel obstruction. Psyllium is a recognized allergen; if you develop hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek emergency care. Because psyllium can slow the absorption of oral medicines, separate it from any medication by at least two to four hours. Do not use during pregnancy or while nursing unless directed by your practitioner. This product is not intended for young children. Do not exceed the suggested serving. Keep out of reach of children. This tincture is made with alcohol, so excessive consumption may impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.

Frequently Asked Questions about Psyllium Extract
What is Psyllium Husk (Plantago psyllium)?
Psyllium is a plant of the family Plantaginaceae, and the part used here is the husk - the fine outer coat of the seed. Our psyllium is Plantago psyllium, also known as black psyllium or French psyllium (botanical synonym Plantago afra), grown in India. It is worth being precise about the species, because the word psyllium covers more than one plant: the psyllium husk most people know from the pharmacy shelf is usually from a related species, Plantago ovata, which we offer separately as a seed product, and there is also Plantago asiatica, which we sell under its Chinese name Che Qian Zi. This product is a liquid extract of Plantago psyllium husk, offered in two forms - a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite. It is a whole-husk liquid extract, not an isolated compound, and it is not a bulk fiber powder. We label the botanical name and plant part on every page so it is clear which psyllium you are getting. Please read the safety section carefully before use.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Plantago psyllium husk; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, together with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both deliver the husk's constituents in a convenient liquid you take by the drop. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
Which psyllium is this, and how is it different from the powder?
Two clarifications. On the plant: ours is Plantago psyllium, sometimes called black or French psyllium. The commercial psyllium husk sold as a powder - the kind associated with brands like Metamucil, and with the Indian name isabgol - is usually a related species, Plantago ovata. We sell Plantago ovata separately as a seed product, and we also offer Plantago asiatica seed under its Chinese name, Che Qian Zi, so we label the exact species and plant part on each to keep them distinct. On the format: this product is a liquid extract taken by the drop, which is a different thing from the bulk psyllium husk powder you stir into a large glass of water. If you were looking specifically for the powder, this is not that. We describe our product as a whole-husk liquid extract of Plantago psyllium.
How do I use Psyllium Husk liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in a full glass of water - at least 8 oz - and drink it promptly, followed by more water. Use the tincture up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Always take with plenty of liquid. Do not exceed the suggested serving.
Is Psyllium Husk extract right for everyone? Safety and storage.
Please read this carefully, because psyllium has specific and serious safety requirements. Always take psyllium with plenty of water - a full glass of at least 8 oz per dose - and drink it promptly: taken with too little liquid, psyllium can swell and cause choking or a blockage of the esophagus, which has in rare cases been fatal. Do not use this product if you have any narrowing or stricture of the esophagus or intestine, difficulty swallowing, or a history of bowel obstruction. Psyllium is also a recognized allergen; if you develop hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing, seek emergency care. Because psyllium can slow the absorption of medicines taken by mouth, separate it from any medication by at least two to four hours. Do not use during pregnancy or while nursing unless directed by your practitioner. This product is not intended for young children. Do not exceed the suggested serving, and discontinue use and consult your practitioner if any adverse reaction occurs. Keep out of reach of children. Store this tincture in a cool, dark place. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

To verify botanical identity and ensure consistency, all raw materials are tested in our laboratory using established analytical techniques. These include High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) for plant authentication and fingerprinting, or Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and other in-house methods. Our approach is guided by relevant standards such as those of the USP and Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP, allowing us to maintain rigorous quality control, ensuring the material meets our specifications for identity, purity and composition.

The result is a potent, stable liquid extract that captures the full spectrum of the botanical's benefits.
