Restore Seven Alcohol-Free Drops

This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of seven ingredients extracted together in equal parts: four roots and leaves, a whole herb, a tree resin and a mushroom from Indian and Chinese tradition. Each is also sold on its own. It is a traditional herbal product and not a treatment for any illness - please read the safety information below before use.

What is in the blend

  • Ashwagandha - the pale, woody root of a small nightshade-family shrub of India and the Middle East; its Sanskrit name refers to the horse-like smell of the fresh root.
  • Astragalus (Huang Qi) - the long, fibrous yellow root of a legume from the grasslands of northern China and Mongolia.
  • Bacopa (brahmi) - a small creeping herb with succulent leaves and white flowers, growing in the wetlands and rice paddies of India; the whole herb is used.
  • Frankincense - the pale golden tears of resin tapped from Boswellia trees of the dry hills of India.
  • Gotu kola - a small creeping herb of the carrot family from the wetlands of Asia, eaten as a salad green in Sri Lanka; it is sometimes also called brahmi, though it is a different plant from bacopa.
  • Reishi (Lingzhi) - the glossy, reddish-brown fan-shaped mushroom that grows on hardwood; a fungus, not a plant.
  • Turmeric - the dried golden rhizome of a ginger-family plant, the same spice used in curries; it tints the liquid yellow and can stain fabric.

Why the alcohol-free drops

The seven dried ingredients are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that softens the earthy bitterness of the roots and mushroom.

What is a glycerite?

A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the ingredients. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.

How to use

Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it with food, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving, and reduce the amount if you notice stomach upset. Ashwagandha and gotu kola can be mildly relaxing, so see how it affects you before driving. Use it in courses rather than continuously. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.

Drops or tincture?

If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same seven-ingredient blend is available as Restore Seven Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The ingredients and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.

Important safety information - please read before use

This is a botanical product, not a treatment for any illness. Several of its ingredients affect the immune system, the liver, blood clotting and the thyroid. Please read before use.

  • Not a treatment: if you are ill, recovering from an illness or under medical care, follow the advice of your doctor. This blend must not replace any medical care or prescribed medicine.
  • Autoimmune conditions and immune-suppressing medication: astragalus, reishi and ashwagandha may affect immune activity. Do not use if you have an autoimmune condition or take immunosuppressants, including after an organ transplant.
  • Liver: rare cases of liver injury have been reported with ashwagandha, gotu kola, turmeric and reishi. Stay within the label serving. Stop and see a doctor if you notice dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual tiredness or abdominal pain. Do not use if you have liver disease.
  • Bleeding: reishi, turmeric and frankincense may slow blood clotting - consult your doctor if you take warfarin, aspirin or other blood thinners. Stop use at least two weeks before scheduled surgery.
  • Thyroid: ashwagandha and bacopa can raise thyroid hormone levels. Do not use if you have a thyroid condition or take thyroid medication without your doctor.
  • Prescription medicines: bacopa and frankincense change how the liver processes many drugs, and bacopa can add to the effect of medicines that slow the heart or act on acetylcholine. If you take any prescription medication, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
  • Pregnancy / nursing: do not use.
  • Drowsiness: ashwagandha and gotu kola may add to the effect of sedatives and alcohol.
  • Blood sugar and blood pressure: ashwagandha and reishi may lower both - monitor if you take diabetes or blood-pressure medication.
  • Gallstones: avoid if you have gallstones or a bile-duct obstruction (turmeric).
  • Stomach: bacopa can cause nausea or loose stools - take with food.
  • Allergies: ashwagandha is a nightshade-family plant; frankincense is a tree resin.
  • Age: not for children.
  • If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Restore Seven Alcohol-Free Drops?
Restore Seven is a seven-ingredient liquid blend: ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera), astragalus root (Astragalus membranaceus), bacopa herb (Bacopa monnieri), frankincense resin (Boswellia serrata), gotu kola leaf (Centella asiatica), reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) and turmeric rhizome (Curcuma longa), extracted together in equal parts in vegetable glycerin and purified water, with no alcohol. It brings together classic roots, leaves, a resin and a mushroom of Indian and Chinese tradition; all seven are also sold on their own. It is an herbal glycerite, not a capsule. It is a botanical product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and it is not a treatment for any illness. Please read the safety note below - this blend is not suitable for everyone.
What is the difference between the alcohol-free drops and the tincture?
Both contain the same seven ingredients in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. These drops are a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water - no alcohol, a milder and naturally sweet taste that softens the earthy bitterness of the roots and mushroom, best kept refrigerated after opening. The tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.
Is Restore Seven the same product as before? What is bacopa?
Yes - Restore Seven is the same seven-ingredient formula, in the same proportions, under a new name; only the name has changed. Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri) is a small creeping herb of Indian wetlands, also called water hyssop; in Ayurvedic tradition it is known as brahmi. Note that gotu kola (Centella asiatica), also in this blend, is sometimes called brahmi as well, especially in southern India - the two are different plants, and both are present here. Reishi is a fungus, not a plant; frankincense is a tree resin; the rest are roots and leaves.
