Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus) Petals Tincture

Both are liquid extracts of the same Helianthus annuus petals; only the solvent differs. This tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic conventional method that yields a super-concentrated extract with a long shelf life. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and crystal clear water instead, for those who prefer to avoid alcohol. Choose the tincture for a traditional alcohol-extracted format; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol. The botanical inside is identical. Please follow the safety notes for both.

No - it helps to be clear. This product is a liquid extract of the sunflower PETALS (the ray florets of the flower). It is not sunflower seed, and it is not sunflower oil - those come from the seeds and are foods, sold and used differently. If you are looking for the edible seed or the cooking/skin oil, those are separate items. This is specifically the petal extract from Helianthus annuus, taken by the drop. One important shared point, though: sunflower in any form is in the daisy family, so the allergy notes below apply.

Shake well before use. Use the number of drops and the frequency shown on the label, in a little water, tea or juice, or as directed by your practitioner. Because this is an alcohol tincture, adding it to a little water softens the taste. Do not exceed the suggested serving. Please read the safety and allergy information below before use. Sunflower petals are food-adjacent and generally well tolerated at sensible amounts, but the most important caution is allergy. Sunflower belongs to the daisy/ragweed (Asteraceae) family and is a recognized allergen - it contains compounds (such as sesquiterpene lactones) that can cause skin reactions, and sunflower pollen is a known trigger for hay fever and asthma. Avoid this product if you are allergic to sunflower, its seeds or pollen, or to related plants such as ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds or daisies. Do NOT use during pregnancy or while nursing, as daisy-family herbs are generally avoided in pregnancy. Keep to the suggested serving and do not exceed it.
