Wu wei zi, or Schisandra chinensis, is a deciduous, perennial, woody vine that originates from the Russian Far East and northern China. The dark green leaves are alternately arranged, tough, about 7–8 cm long and elliptical in shape. White or pale rose to bright pink aromatic flowers are about 1.2 cm in diameter. Fruits are borne in dense clusters about 10 cm long. Fruits are scarlet-red, 6 mm long, oval berries. All parts of the plant (berries, leaves and bark) - have a lemon aroma. *
