Digestion Guard Tincture
Digestion Guard Tincture, Fennel Seed, Peppermint Leaf, Cinnamon Bark, Dill Seed, Rosemary Leaf, Turmeric Rhizome, Psyllium HuskDigestion Guard Tincture
This is an alcohol-based liquid extract (tincture) of seven herbs extracted together, most of them familiar from the kitchen: two aromatic seeds of the carrot family, two mints, the true Ceylon cinnamon, the orange turmeric rhizome and the seed husk of psyllium. Each is also sold on its own. It is a traditional herbal product for adults only - please read the safety information below before use.
- Fennel, seed - Foeniculum vulgare seed (Apiaceae)
- Peppermint, leaf - Mentha x piperita leaf (Lamiaceae)
- Ceylon cinnamon, bark - Cinnamomum verum bark (Lauraceae)
- Dill, seed - Anethum graveolens seed (Apiaceae)
- Rosemary, leaf - Rosmarinus officinalis leaf (Lamiaceae)
- Turmeric, rhizome - Curcuma longa rhizome (Zingiberaceae)
- Psyllium, husk - Plantago psyllium seed husk (Plantaginaceae)
- Extract type: Alcohol tincture. Other ingredients: organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, crystal clear purified water
- Origin: Responsibly sourced cultivated botanicals. Gluten free. Made in the USA.
What is in the blend
- Fennel and dill seed - two aromatic seeds of the carrot family: fennel with its sweet anise scent, dill with the sharper note familiar from pickles. Both are culinary spices; as concentrated extracts they are for adults only.
- Peppermint and rosemary - two members of the mint family: the cool, menthol-rich leaf of peppermint and the resinous, piney leaf of rosemary.
- Ceylon cinnamon - the thin, papery inner bark of Cinnamomum verum from Sri Lanka, the true cinnamon, naturally low in coumarin unlike the common cassia.
- Turmeric rhizome - the bright orange underground stem of a ginger-family plant of South Asia, the source of the kitchen spice.
- Psyllium husk - the thin, pale outer coat of the seed of a plantain relative grown in India; in a liquid extract it is a flavor-neutral ingredient, unlike the bulk husk powder.
Why a tincture
The seven dried herbs are macerated together in organic alcohol with a little vegetable glycerin and water - the classic herbal method. A tincture keeps for years at room temperature in a cool, dark place, has a warm, aromatic, slightly sweet taste of fennel, mint and cinnamon, and a few drops disappear in a glass of water or juice. A serving of 20 to 30 drops is roughly 1 ml of liquid, so the amount of alcohol per serving is small.
How to use
Adults only. Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a full glass of water or juice and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. If you take any medication, take this blend at least two hours apart from it. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tight.
Tincture or drops?
If you avoid alcohol or prefer a milder taste, the same seven-herb blend is available as Digestion Guard Alcohol-Free Drops - the glycerite version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.
Important safety information - please read before use
This blend is for adults only and contains psyllium, a known allergen. Please read before use.
- Gallstones and reflux: do not use if you have gallstones or a bile-duct obstruction - turmeric and peppermint stimulate bile flow. Do not use if you have a hiatal hernia or acid reflux - peppermint can relax the valve at the top of the stomach and make it worse.
- Psyllium allergy: psyllium has caused serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Do not use if you are allergic to psyllium or plantain-family plants. Seek emergency care for hives, swelling or difficulty breathing.
- Pregnancy / nursing: do not use - fennel, dill and rosemary are traditionally avoided in pregnancy.
- Children: adults only. Fennel seed contains estragole, and European regulators advise against it for young children; dill seed extract is not gripe water.
- Medication timing: psyllium can slow the absorption of medicines - take this blend at least two hours apart from any medication, with a full glass of water.
- Blood thinners and surgery: turmeric and rosemary may slow blood clotting. Consult your doctor if you take warfarin or similar, and stop use at least two weeks before surgery.
- Hormone-sensitive conditions: fennel has mild estrogen-like activity - consult your practitioner.
- Blood sugar: cinnamon and rosemary may lower blood sugar - monitor if you take diabetes medication.
- Lithium: dill may raise lithium levels - consult your doctor.
- Seizures: avoid rosemary if you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder.
- Allergies: fennel and dill are carrot-family (Apiaceae) plants - avoid if you react to celery, carrot or coriander; peppermint and rosemary are mint-family (Lamiaceae) plants; cinnamon can sensitize the skin.
- See a doctor: persistent stomach pain, bleeding, weight loss or a change in bowel habit needs medical evaluation. Do not use this blend instead of one.
- Contains alcohol. If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.

great product...very hard to find viola odorata in a glycerin base.
Really effective at blunting the hangover. Tried it out in Vegas this weekend. Very happy. Its almost clear and has a slight, sweet flavor. Easy to add to a glass of water or take straight.
Good product. It does what it was meant to do.
This product has been hard to get from other sources, so I could not be happier that this product came exactly when you said it would.
When I ordered this tincture I thought it was papaver somniferum, a sleep aid. I now understand that California poppy is a different genus. The tincture seems ok, nothing dramatic, but I guess it helps one sleep if you take the 30 drps as the instructions recommend.
Great to have in my Oil collection. It's great for allergies also.
The cinnamon extract is an excellent product. Great that it's alcohol free.
hope this works...
