Eleuthero (Eleutherococcus senticosus) is a hardy deciduous shrub of the ginseng family, Araliaceae, native to the taiga of eastern Siberia, northeastern China, Korea and Japan. It grows 2-3 m tall with slender, densely bristled stems, palmate leaves of five leaflets and umbels of small flowers followed by black berries. The woody, pale brown root has a faint sweet-bitter taste and is also sold as Siberian ginseng, although it is not a true Panax. We extract the dried root.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
