Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) is a low creeping perennial of the carrot family, Apiaceae, native to wetlands of tropical and subtropical Asia and found from India to Southeast Asia, Australia and the Pacific. Slender stems root at the nodes and carry small, round, bluntly toothed leaves on long stalks; tiny pink or red flowers hide beneath the leaves. In Sri Lanka the fresh leaves are a salad green, and the taste is mild and slightly bitter. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
