Ling Zhi (Ganoderma lucidum), the reishi mushroom, is a wood-decaying polypore fungus of the Ganodermataceae family, found on hardwood stumps and roots in temperate forests of Asia, Europe and North America and now grown on logs and sawdust. Its fan-shaped cap is 5-20 cm across with a hard, glossy, varnished surface in bands of red-brown to mahogany, often on a lateral stalk, with a white to cream pore surface beneath. The flesh is woody and corky with a very bitter taste. We extract the dried whole mushroom.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
