About Mentha x piperita

Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) is a perennial of the mint family, Lamiaceae, a natural hybrid between watermint and spearmint first recorded in England and now grown worldwide, with large commercial plantings in the northwestern United States. It spreads by runners into dense patches 30 to 90 cm tall, with square, often purple-tinged stems and dark green, lanceolate, sharply toothed leaves. Whorls of small lilac flowers form terminal spikes in summer. Crushed leaves release the sharp, cooling scent of menthol. We extract the dried leaf.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
