Immune Support Alcohol-Free Drops

This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of three ingredients extracted together in equal parts: two roots and one mushroom. Astragalus and reishi are classic materials of Chinese herbalism; eleuthero is a woody shrub of the Russian Far East. All three are also sold on their own. It is a traditional herbal product - please read the safety information below before use.

What is in the blend

  • Astragalus (Huang Qi) - the long, fibrous yellow root of a legume from the grasslands of northern China and Mongolia, one of the most frequently used roots in Chinese herbal tradition.
  • Eleuthero (Ci Wu Jia) - the root of a thorny shrub of the ivy family from Siberian and Manchurian forests. Older books call it Siberian ginseng, but it is not a true ginseng and belongs to a different genus.
  • Reishi (Lingzhi) - the glossy, reddish-brown fan-shaped mushroom that grows on hardwood; the whole fruiting body is used. It is a fungus, not a plant.

Why the alcohol-free drops

The dried roots and mushroom are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that softens the earthy bitterness of reishi.

What is a glycerite?

A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the ingredients. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.

How to use

Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. Eleuthero can be mildly stimulating, so many people prefer to take the blend earlier in the day. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.

Drops or tincture?

If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same three-ingredient blend is available as Immune Support Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The ingredients and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.

Important safety information - please read before use

All three ingredients in this blend have documented cautions. Please read before use.

  • Autoimmune conditions and immune-suppressing medication: astragalus and reishi may increase immune activity. Do not use if you have an autoimmune condition such as lupus, multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis, or if you take immunosuppressants, including after an organ transplant.
  • Bleeding: reishi may slow blood clotting - consult your doctor if you take warfarin, aspirin or other blood thinners. Stop use at least two weeks before scheduled surgery.
  • Heart and blood pressure: eleuthero may interact with digoxin and should be used with caution if you have high blood pressure; reishi may add to the effect of blood-pressure medicines.
  • Blood sugar: eleuthero and reishi may lower blood sugar - monitor if you take diabetes medication.
  • Hormone-sensitive conditions: avoid eleuthero if you have a hormone-sensitive condition such as breast or prostate cancer or endometriosis.
  • Liver: rare cases of liver injury have been reported with reishi, especially with prolonged use of powdered mushroom together with alcohol. Stay within the label serving. Stop and see a doctor if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes or dark urine.
  • Pregnancy / nursing: do not use.
  • Age: not for children.
  • If you have a medical condition or take medication, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Immune Support Alcohol-Free Drops?
Immune Support is a three-ingredient liquid blend: astragalus root (Astragalus membranaceus), eleuthero root (Eleutherococcus senticosus) and reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum), extracted together in equal parts in vegetable glycerin and purified water, with no alcohol. Astragalus and reishi are classic roots and fungi of Chinese herbalism; eleuthero is a woody shrub of the Russian Far East and northern China. All three are also sold on their own. It is an herbal glycerite, not a capsule. It is a botanical product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please read the safety note below - this blend is not suitable for everyone.
What is the difference between the alcohol-free drops and the tincture?
Both contain the same three ingredients in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. These drops are a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water - no alcohol, a milder and naturally sweet taste that softens the earthy bitterness of reishi, best kept refrigerated after opening. The tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.
How is Immune Support different from Immunon? Is eleuthero the same as ginseng?
They are different formulas. Immune Support is the simpler blend of three ingredients - astragalus root, eleuthero root and reishi mushroom. Immunon is a larger blend built around echinacea, elderberry, cat's claw, pau d'arco, red ginseng and astragalus. Compare the ingredient lists and choose the one that fits you; the only ingredient they share is astragalus. Eleuthero is not a ginseng: older books call it Siberian ginseng, but it is Eleutherococcus senticosus, a shrub of the ivy family, not a Panax species - the red ginseng in Immunon is Panax ginseng. Reishi is a fungus, not a plant; the whole fruiting body is used here.
How do I use Immune Support Drops?
