Mu Li (Crassostrea Gigas) Oyster Shell Tincture

Both are liquid extracts of the same powdered oyster shell; only the solvent differs. This tincture uses organic alcohol at 48% by volume with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic conventional method that yields a super-concentrated extract with a long shelf life. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and crystal clear water instead, for those who prefer to avoid alcohol. Choose the tincture for a traditional alcohol-extracted format; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol. The material inside is identical. Please follow the safety and allergy notes for both.

No on both counts. Mu Li is oyster shell (Crassostrea gigas). Zhen Zhu Mu is a different shell - pearl shell or mother-of-pearl from the pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera - which we sell separately; both are shell-based but from different mollusks. (Note also that some other herbs share part of the pinyin name but are unrelated plants, such as Zhi Mu, which is Anemarrhena, a root.) On the calcium question: oyster shell is naturally high in calcium carbonate, but this product is a traditional herbal liquid extract taken by the drop, and we do not sell or describe it as a calcium supplement or make any bone, calcium or antacid claims for it.

Shake well before use. The suggested serving for adults is 20 to 30 drops (approximately 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper) in 2 oz of water or juice, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Because this is an alcohol tincture, adding it to a little water softens the taste. Do not exceed the suggested serving. Please read the safety and allergy information below carefully before use.
