Suggested use and dosage for adults: Shake well before use. 20-30 drops (1 ml., one full squeeze of dropper), up to 4 times a day or as directed by your practitioner. The best way to use liquid herbal tinctures is to put the suggested amount in a glass of water, tea, or juice and drink the entire contents. Tinctures can also be administered directly into the mouth without the assistance of water however some tinctures are unpalatable which is why most people prefer to dilute them into a beverage.

What is Mustard (Sinapis alba) seed extract?
Mustard seed extract is a dietary supplement made from the dried seed of Sinapis alba, the plant known in English as white mustard or yellow mustard. It belongs to the Brassicaceae family, which also includes cabbage, broccoli, kale and rocket. The seed is small, pale and round, and it is the part used here - our raw material is grown in Germany and dried before extraction. The extract is offered in two forms: a traditional alcohol-based tincture and an alcohol-free glycerite. This is a whole-seed liquid extract carrying the seed's natural spectrum of constituents, not an isolated or standardized single compound. We label the product by botanical name and plant part, because the word mustard is used for a great many different things - a table condiment, a leafy vegetable, a pressed oil and a topical preparation among them - and this product is none of those. It is a liquid herbal extract of Sinapis alba seed, intended for internal use as a supplement. Please read the safety section before use, as mustard is a recognised allergen.
What is the difference between the tincture and alcohol-free versions?
Both are liquid extracts of the same Sinapis alba seed; only the solvent differs. The tincture uses alcohol as the traditional solvent, together with vegetable glycerin and water. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water, suited to those who avoid alcohol. Both are produced in an FDA-registered facility in Hawaii under GMP standards, with each batch tested for identity, microbiology and stability. Choose the tincture for a classic alcohol-extracted format with a longer shelf life; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol.
Is this the same as table mustard, mustard greens, or a mustard plaster?
No to all three, and the distinctions are worth stating plainly because the word mustard covers a lot of ground. Table mustard - including Dijon and yellow squeeze-bottle mustard - is a prepared condiment made with vinegar, water, salt and other ingredients; this product is a liquid extract of the seed itself and is not a food seasoning. Mustard greens are the leaves of a different species, Brassica juncea, sold as a leafy vegetable; ours is the seed of Sinapis alba, so both the species and the plant part differ. Mustard oil is pressed from seed and belongs to a different product category again. A mustard plaster or poultice is a topical preparation applied to the skin, and it is a different form of use entirely - this product is an internal liquid extract and is not intended for application to the skin. Finally, mustard is not one plant: alongside white mustard there are other mustard species, including brown and black mustard, which are separate plants sold separately. We label the botanical name (Sinapis alba) and the plant part on every page so it is clear which one you are getting.
How do I use Mustard seed liquid extract?
Shake well before use. Adults take 20-30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water, tea, or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by your practitioner. Drink the entire contents. Do not exceed the suggested serving.

Mustard is a recognised allergen: it is a priority allergen in Canada and one of the fourteen allergens that must be declared on labels in the European Union, although it is not among the nine major allergens listed in the United States. If you know or suspect that you react to mustard, do not use this product. Mustard seed also contains glucosinolates, natural compounds found throughout the cabbage family; at high intakes these can interfere with how the thyroid uses iodine, particularly where iodine status is low, so if you have a thyroid condition or take thyroid medication, talk with your practitioner before use. Large amounts of mustard seed may irritate the digestive tract, and caution is advised if you take blood thinners. Do not exceed the suggested serving. If you are pregnant, nursing, take any medication or are managing a health condition, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Keep out of reach of children.
