SLEEPALL - Hawaii Pharm Absolutely Natural Premium Quality ALCOHOL-FREE Liquid Extract, Glycerite Herbal Supplement

SLEEPALL Alcohol-Free Drops

This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of six herbs extracted together in equal parts: the classic evening herbs of European tradition together with the golden poppy of California and the tulsi of India. Each is also sold on its own. All six herbs can cause drowsiness, and because the blend contains St. John's wort it must not be combined with many prescription medicines - please read the safety information below before use.

What is in the blend

  • Valerian - the pale, stringy root of a tall pink-flowered meadow plant, famous for its pungent, earthy smell and one of the oldest herbs of the European evening tradition.
  • Hops - the papery green cones of the hop vine, the same flowers that flavor beer; they carry bitter resins and a strong plant estrogen (see the safety note).
  • Chamomile - the small white-and-yellow daisy of European meadows, the most familiar herbal tea flower in the world.
  • California poppy - the bright orange state flower of California; the whole flowering herb is used. It belongs to the poppy family but is a different genus from the opium poppy and contains no opium.
  • St. John's wort - a sunny meadow plant with star-shaped yellow flowers that bloom around midsummer; one of the most studied herbs in Europe, and one of the most likely to interact with medicines.
  • Holy basil - tulsi, the sacred aromatic basil of India, grown in courtyards and temple gardens; the leaf is used.

Why the alcohol-free drops

The six dried herbs are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that softens the earthy bitterness of valerian and hops.

What is a glycerite?

A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the herbs. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.

How to use

Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. It causes drowsiness - take it in the evening, do not drive or operate machinery after taking it, and do not combine it with alcohol. Use it in short courses rather than continuously, and protect your skin from strong sun while using it. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.

Drops or tincture?

If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same six-herb blend is available as SLEEPALL Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.

Important safety information - please read before use

This blend contains St. John's wort, which interacts with many prescription medicines, and five other herbs that cause drowsiness. Please read before use.

  • Prescription medicines: St. John's wort speeds up the breakdown of many drugs. It can make oral contraceptives fail, and it reduces the effect of warfarin, digoxin, statins, HIV antiretrovirals, transplant immunosuppressants, some chemotherapy and many other medicines. If you take any prescription medication, do not use this blend without checking with your pharmacist or doctor.
  • Antidepressants: do not combine with SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, tramadol or triptans - the combination can cause serotonin syndrome, which is dangerous.
  • Drowsiness: valerian, hops, California poppy and chamomile all cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking it, and do not combine with alcohol, sedatives, benzodiazepines, antihistamines or other products that slow the nervous system.
  • Blood thinners: chamomile and holy basil may slow blood clotting - consult your doctor if you take warfarin, aspirin or similar.
  • Pregnancy, conception and nursing: do not use - holy basil, St. John's wort, hops and California poppy are all avoided in pregnancy, and holy basil has affected fertility in animal studies.
  • Surgery: stop use at least two weeks before scheduled surgery or anesthesia.
  • Hormone-sensitive conditions: hops has strong estrogen-like activity - avoid if you have a hormone-sensitive condition or take hormone therapy.
  • Allergies: chamomile is a daisy-family (Asteraceae) plant, and severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis have been reported. Do not use if you are allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums or daisies.
  • Sun: St. John's wort can make skin more sensitive to sunlight - avoid strong sun and tanning beds while using it.
  • Blood sugar and thyroid: holy basil may lower blood sugar and thyroid hormone levels - consult your doctor if you take diabetes or thyroid medication.
  • Duration and liver: use in short courses. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported with valerian - stop and see a doctor if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes or dark urine.
  • Age: not for children.
  • If you have a medical condition, consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use. Do not use it to self-treat any medical condition - see a qualified doctor instead. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is SLEEPALL Alcohol-Free Drops?
SLEEPALL is a six-herb liquid blend: valerian root (Valeriana officinalis), hops flower (Humulus lupulus), chamomile flower (Matricaria chamomilla), California poppy aerial parts (Eschscholzia californica), St. John's wort herb (Hypericum perforatum) and holy basil leaf (Ocimum tenuiflorum), extracted together in equal parts in vegetable glycerin and purified water, with no alcohol. It brings together the classic evening herbs of European tradition with the golden poppy of California and the tulsi of India; all six are also sold on their own. It is an herbal glycerite, not a capsule. It is a botanical product and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please read the safety note below - because it contains St. John's wort, this blend must not be combined with many prescription medicines, and all six herbs can cause drowsiness.
What is the difference between the alcohol-free drops and the tincture?
Both contain the same six herbs in the same proportions; only the extraction liquid differs. These drops are a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and purified water - no alcohol, a milder and naturally sweet taste that softens the earthy bitterness of valerian and hops, best kept refrigerated after opening. The tincture uses organic alcohol with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic method with the longest shelf life at room temperature. Choose whichever suits you; the safety notes apply to both.
Can I take SLEEPALL with my medication? How is it different from Sleep Support?
Check with your pharmacist or doctor first. St. John's wort changes how the body processes many prescription medicines - it can make oral contraceptives, blood thinners, heart medicines, HIV and transplant medicines and some cancer drugs less effective, and it must not be combined with antidepressants. If you take any prescription medication, do not use this blend without that check. Sleep Support is our four-herb evening blend of valerian, hops, blue vervain and wild lettuce, with no St. John's wort and no poppy; SLEEPALL is the six-herb blend that adds chamomile, California poppy, St. John's wort and holy basil. The two share valerian and hops. Compare the ingredient lists and choose the one that fits you; all of our evening blends can cause drowsiness.
How do I use SLEEPALL Drops?
