Trees Flowering Season Tincture
Trees Flowering Season Tincture, Stinging Nettle Leaf, Eyebright Herb, Yerba Santa Leaf, Marshmallow LeafTrees Flowering Season Tincture
This is an alcohol-based liquid extract (tincture) of four leafy herbs extracted together in equal parts and taken by mouth: the hedgerow nettle, a tiny meadow flower, a resinous Californian shrub and the velvety marshmallow leaf. Each is also sold on its own. It is a traditional herbal product - please read the safety information below before use.
- Stinging nettle, leaf - Urtica dioica leaf (Urticaceae)
- Eyebright, herb - Euphrasia officinalis herb (Orobanchaceae)
- Yerba santa, leaf - Eriodictyon californicum leaf (Namaceae)
- Marshmallow, leaf - Althaea officinalis leaf (Malvaceae)
- Extract type: Alcohol tincture, for oral use. Other ingredients: organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, crystal clear purified water
- Origin: Responsibly sourced botanicals. Gluten free. Made in the USA.
What is in the blend
- Stinging nettle leaf - the toothed, dark-green leaf of the hedgerow perennial found across Europe, Asia and North America; dried or extracted, it no longer stings.
- Eyebright - a tiny annual of meadows and pastures with white flowers streaked purple and yellow; the whole flowering herb is used, and in this blend it is taken by mouth.
- Yerba santa (holy herb) - a sticky, aromatic evergreen shrub of the dry hills of California and Oregon, with long, leathery, resin-coated leaves; a plant of the Native Californian herbal tradition, unrelated to yerba mate or yerba buena.
- Marshmallow leaf - the soft, velvety, gray-green leaf of a tall plant with pale pink flowers that grows on damp ground across Europe and western Asia; like the root, it is rich in mucilage.
Why a tincture
The four dried herbs are macerated together in organic alcohol with a little vegetable glycerin and water - the classic herbal method. A tincture keeps for years at room temperature in a cool, dark place, has a green, resinous, slightly bitter taste, and a few drops disappear in a glass of water or juice. A serving of 20 to 30 drops is roughly 1 ml of liquid, so the amount of alcohol per serving is small.
How to use
Take by mouth only. Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water or juice and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Do not exceed the label serving. If you take any medication, take this blend at least two hours apart from it. Store in a cool, dark place with the cap tight.
Tincture or drops?
If you avoid alcohol or prefer a milder taste, the same four-herb blend is available as Trees Flowering Season Alcohol-Free Drops - the glycerite version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs. Our Seasonal Pollen Protection Tincture is a different two-herb blend of astragalus root and nettle leaf.
