About Linum usitatissimum

Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is a slender annual of the flax family, Linaceae, domesticated in the Fertile Crescent and grown for fiber and seed since the Neolithic. It grows 60-120 cm tall with narrow blue-green leaves and sky-blue, five-petaled flowers that last a single morning. The round capsules hold flat, glossy brown or golden seeds with a mild nutty taste and a mucilage that turns water slippery. Linen cloth is woven from its stem fibers. We extract the dried seed.

Tincture or alcohol-free drops?

Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
