Immunon Alcohol-Free Glycerite, Astragalus Root, Echinacea Herb, Echinacea Root, Elder Berry, Red Ginseng Root, Cat's Claw Bark, Pau d'Arco BarkImmunon Alcohol-Free Drops - Astragalus, Echinacea, Elderberry, Red Ginseng, Cat's Claw and Pau d'Arco Herbal Blend
This is an alcohol-free liquid extract (glycerite) of six herbs (seven plant parts) extracted together in equal parts. Immunon is the name of the blend; it is a traditional herbal product, not a capsule. It is meant for short courses and is not suitable for everyone - please read the safety information below before use.
- Astragalus root - Astragalus membranaceus root (Fabaceae)
- Echinacea herb - Echinacea purpurea herb and Echinacea root - Echinacea purpurea root (Asteraceae)
- Elderberry - Sambucus nigra ripe berry (Adoxaceae)
- Red ginseng root - Panax ginseng root (Araliaceae)
- Cat's claw bark - Uncaria tomentosa inner bark (Rubiaceae)
- Pau d'arco bark - Tabebuia impetiginosa bark (Bignoniaceae; naturally contains lapachol)
- Extract type: Alcohol-free glycerite - liquid drops. Other ingredients: vegetable glycerin, purified water
- Origin: Responsibly sourced botanicals. Gluten free. Made in the USA.
What is in the blend
- Astragalus root - the root of a legume of northern China, known in Chinese herbal tradition as Huang Qi.
- Echinacea herb and root - the purple coneflower of the North American prairie; the blend uses both the flowering herb and the root.
- Elderberry - the ripe black berry of the European elder, cooked into syrups and cordials for centuries; the extract is made from ripe berries only.
- Red ginseng root - the steamed and dried root of Panax ginseng, the classic root of East Asian tradition.
- Cat's claw bark - the inner bark of a woody Amazon vine named for its curved thorns.
- Pau d'arco bark - the inner bark of a South American trumpet tree; it naturally contains lapachol, which is why it is not for use in pregnancy.
Why the alcohol-free drops
The dried herbs are extracted together in vegetable glycerin and purified water, so there is no ethanol in the bottle - the version to choose if you avoid alcohol. Glycerin gives the drops a mild, naturally sweet taste that suits the fruity elderberry and rounds off the earthy roots and barks.
What is a glycerite?
A glycerite is a liquid herbal extract made with vegetable glycerin instead of alcohol. Glycerin is a clear, naturally sweet liquid from plant oils; it extracts and preserves the water-soluble parts of the herbs. Because glycerin is a weaker preservative than alcohol, keep the bottle refrigerated after opening. The glycerin and water percentages are printed on the label.
How to use
Shake well before use. Put the number of drops shown on the label into a little water, juice or tea and drink it, up to the frequency shown on the label. Use it as a short course - up to eight weeks - and then take a break rather than using it continuously. Refrigerate after opening and use within the period printed on the label.
Drops or tincture?
If you prefer the classic alcohol-based extract with the longest shelf life at room temperature, the same six-herb blend is available as Immunon Tincture - the alcohol-based version. The herbs and proportions are identical; only the extraction liquid differs.
