Frequently Asked Questions about Red Ginseng Extract
What is red ginseng extract used for?
Red ginseng extract is a dietary supplement made from steamed and dried root of Panax ginseng. It is one of the most studied adaptogenic herbs in traditional Asian wellness practice. As a dietary supplement, red ginseng extract is commonly used to support healthy energy levels, vitality, and the body's ability to adapt to occasional stress. What is the difference between red ginseng drops and red ginseng tincture?
HawaiiPharm offers red ginseng in two liquid formats. The alcohol-free glycerite drops use vegetable glycerin and purified water as solvents, making them suitable for those who avoid alcohol. The red ginseng tincture uses grain alcohol as the primary solvent, which is the traditional herbal extraction method. Both are made from the same dried Panax ginseng root - the choice comes down to personal preference or dietary needs.
What is the difference between red ginseng and Korean red ginseng?
Red ginseng and Korean red ginseng both refer to Panax ginseng root that has been steamed and dried - a process that distinguishes it from white ginseng, which is simply dried without steaming. Korean red ginseng specifically refers to Panax ginseng cultivated in Korea. HawaiiPharm's red ginseng tincture is made from dried Panax ginseng root processed by the traditional steaming method.
How do I use red ginseng liquid extract?
The suggested use is 20-30 drops taken three times daily, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner. Add the drops to water, tea, or juice before consuming. Shake the bottle well before each use, as natural separation may occur. Store in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. Do not exceed the suggested serving size unless directed by a healthcare professional.
Are there any precautions when taking red ginseng supplement?
Red ginseng (Panax ginseng) is generally well tolerated when used as directed. However, ginseng may interact with blood-thinning medications such as warfarin and with diabetes medications - consult your doctor before use if you take prescription medications. Ginseng may cause insomnia if taken late in the day. Pregnant or nursing women should seek medical advice before use. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. ETHICALLY SOURCED, NATURAL INGREDIENTS

Our Red Ginseng (Panax Ginseng) Root is selected from regions with optimal growing conditions to support a high concentration of active constituents. We work only with trusted suppliers and focus on sourcing clean, well-preserved botanical material suitable for high-quality liquid extraction.

As a solvent, we use alcohol to preserve the integrity of the extract and support a clean extraction process.
To verify botanical identity and ensure consistency, all raw materials are tested in our laboratory using established analytical techniques. These include High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) for plant authentication and fingerprinting, or Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and other in-house methods. Our approach is guided by relevant standards such as those of the USP and Ph. Eur., ISO 17025 and cGLP, allowing us to maintain rigorous quality control, ensuring the material meets our specifications for identity, purity and composition.

METICULOUS EXTRACT PREPARATION

Hawaii Pharm determines the optimal herb-to-menstruum ratio for each botanical. For alcohol-based extracts, we use a carefully balanced alcohol blend to ensure maximum extraction of active compounds while preserving the plant's natural integrity.
Our master herbalists analyze each batch and adjust extraction parameters as needed, ensuring consistent quality despite natural variations in botanical sources.
The result is a potent, stable liquid extract that captures the full spectrum of the botanical's benefits.

COMPREHENSIVE LABORATORY TESTING

Every batch undergoes multiple quality assurance tests including:
  • Organoleptic evaluation (color, consistency, aroma)
  • FTIR and/or HPTLC spectral analysis for identity confirmation
  • Microbiological testing (total plate count, E. coli, coliforms)
  • Yeast and mold screening
  • Alcohol content verification
  • Viscosity measurement
  • Refractometric analysis
