She Chuang Zi (Cnidium Monnieri) Fruit Tincture

Both are liquid extracts of the same Cnidium monnieri fruit; only the solvent differs. This tincture uses organic alcohol at 48% by volume with vegetable glycerin and water, the classic conventional method that yields a super-concentrated extract with a long shelf life. The alcohol-free version is a glycerite made with vegetable glycerin and crystal clear water instead, for those who prefer to avoid alcohol. Choose the tincture for a traditional alcohol-extracted format; choose the glycerite if you prefer no alcohol. The botanical inside is identical. Please follow the safety notes for both.

Yes - She Chuang Zi and Snowparsley are the same plant, Cnidium monnieri. "She Chuang Zi" is the traditional Chinese name and "Snowparsley" (or Monnier's snowparsley) is the English common name. "Fructus Cnidii" is simply the old pharmacopeia phrase for "the fruit of Cnidium," not a separate species; the accepted botanical name is Cnidium monnieri. So if you have seen our Snowparsley listing, it is the same herb as this one, and we label it by botanical name so there is no confusion. The active constituents include coumarins such as osthole; osthole is also sold on its own as an isolated research compound, which is not the same as this whole-fruit extract.

Shake well before use. Because this herb is traditionally considered slightly toxic, use small amounts: the suggested serving for adults is 10 to 20 drops in 2 oz of water, or as directed by your healthcare practitioner, and it is best used short-term rather than continuously. Because this is an alcohol tincture, adding it to a little water softens the taste. Do not exceed the suggested serving.
