Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) is the unfermented leaf of the tea plant, an evergreen shrub of the tea family, Theaceae, native to the borderlands of southwestern China, northern Myanmar and Assam. Left alone it grows into a small tree, but plantations keep it as a waist-high hedge of glossy, serrated leaves with small white, yellow-centered flowers. For green tea the young leaves are steamed or pan-fired to stop oxidation, keeping their green color and fresh, grassy, slightly astringent taste. We extract the dried leaf.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
