Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), the maidenhair tree, is a deciduous tree of the Ginkgoaceae family, the sole living member of a lineage that dates back some 200 million years, native to China and planted in cities worldwide. It reaches 20-35 m with fan-shaped, two-lobed leaves that turn pure yellow in autumn. Female trees bear plum-like seeds with a foul-smelling outer coat around an edible nut known in China as bai guo. We extract the dried leaf and the dried seed separately.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
