Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) is a small semi-parasitic annual of the broomrape family, Orobanchaceae, native to the meadows and heaths of Europe. It stands only 5-25 cm tall, with tiny toothed leaves and small white flowers marked with purple veins and a yellow spot on the lower lip, and it draws part of its food from the roots of neighboring grasses. The flowering herb has a slightly bitter, astringent taste. We extract the dried herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
