- We strictly use ethically sourced raw material, organic alcohol, and vegetable glycerin USP
Kigelia Fruit (Kigelia Africana) is the dried fruit of the African sausage tree, a plant of the family Bignoniaceae named for its large, grey, sausage-shaped fruit that hangs on long stalks. This is a botanical extract intended for EXTERNAL use, prepared from the fruit that African traditions have long applied to the skin.
-
FOR EXTERNAL USE: This is a topical botanical extract for use on the skin. It is not intended to be taken internally.
-
WHOLE-FRUIT LIQUID EXTRACT: Made from the dried fruit of Kigelia africana, carrying the plant's natural spectrum of constituents rather than an isolated or standardized single compound.
-
TRADITIONAL ALCOHOL EXTRACTION: A classic alcohol-based tincture, made with organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and water, for a concentrated extract with a long shelf life.
-
SAUSAGE TREE, NOT THE ORNAMENTAL: Made from the fruit of Kigelia africana. It is a botanical skin extract, not the ornamental garden tree, and it is a different plant from other trees also called "cucumber tree" such as Magnolia acuminata.
-
CLEARLY LABELED: Labeled by botanical name and plant part, so there is no confusion with the ornamental tree, the unrelated cucumber trees, or isolated compounds.
Kigelia africana - Sausage Tree
Kigelia (Kigelia africana) is the African sausage tree, famous for its enormous hanging fruit. Its fruit has a long history of external, traditional use on the skin across Africa. Our Kigelia Fruit tincture captures the dried fruit in a concentrated, alcohol-based liquid for external use.
About our Kigelia Fruit Tincture:
We start with quality, dried Kigelia fruit and use a classic, conventional alcohol extraction with organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and water. It is a whole-fruit extract - not an isolate - carrying the plant's natural profile. This is specifically Kigelia africana, the sausage tree, prepared for topical use. Because it is alcohol-based, it may feel drying on the skin.
Suggested use: For external use. Do a patch test first: apply a small amount to a small area of skin and wait 24 hours. If there is no irritation, apply a small amount to clean skin as desired. Avoid the eyes, lips, and broken or irritated skin. Do not swallow.*
Main Ingredients: Kigelia (Kigelia Africana) Dried Fruit.
Other ingredients: organic alcohol, vegetable glycerin USP, crystal clear water.
Additional information about ingredients: Contains NO gluten or artificial color.
Suggested Use: For external use only. Do not use if seal is broken or missing. Store in a cool, dry place.
Safety information: FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY. Do not take this product internally and do not swallow it - the raw sausage-tree fruit is not eaten. Always patch test before first use and discontinue use if any redness, irritation, or rash occurs. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, and broken skin. This is an alcohol-based tincture and may be drying or irritating on sensitive skin. Do not use during pregnancy or while nursing without the advice of a qualified practitioner. Keep out of reach of children. If you are using any topical or prescription medication or have a skin condition, consult your doctor before use.
