Passion Flower (Passiflora incarnata) is a fast-growing herbaceous perennial vine of the passion flower family, Passifloraceae, native to the southeastern United States, where it climbs fences and field margins by coiling tendrils. Its leaves are three-lobed and finely toothed, and the striking flowers, up to 8 cm across, have white petals topped by a fringe of purple and white wavy filaments around a central column of stamens. The egg-shaped yellow-green fruit is the maypop, which pops when stepped on. We extract the dried herb.
Tincture or alcohol-free drops?
Both start from the same dried plant material and cold maceration. The tincture uses organic alcohol
as the solvent, keeps for years and is the classic herbal form. The alcohol-free drops (glycerite) use
vegetable glycerin and purified water, taste mildly sweet and suit anyone avoiding alcohol. The amount of
dried herb per serving is printed on each label.
